DIRTY DOG SPA

The Care Your Pet Deserves

Dear Customers,

Due to the recent dramatic rise in cases of COVID-19 in our community we have made the decision to make mask use MANDATORY if you enter our facility effective immediately, until further notice.

Please understand that we are doing our absolute best to keep our employees safe during these difficult times so we can continue serving our clients with as limited disruption as possible.

If you do not have mask with you, they are available at our front counter or feel free to call from outside of the building and we will come to the door to get your pet.

Retail shopping is still limited to two customers in our retail space at once.

Keep in mind that we do have some items available for purchase online with curbside pick up available.

We will continue to make appointments for our walk-in services i.e., nail trims and face touch ups.

Our self-wash is now open with certain restrictions and by appointment only.

Please know our staff will continue to wear masks, we will check their temperature daily and we will continue to do our extra cleaning. We appreciate all our customers and the flexibility you have shown as we continue to work through COVID-19, we hope to be back to normal real soon.

If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to speak to one of our staff members.

Thank you

TONI CONNORS

Owner/Groomer

I am the owner and one of the groomers at Dirty Dog Spa. I have been grooming since 2006 and previously owned a pet grooming salon in Watertown, SD also called Dirty Dog Spa. I love grooming all breeds, I especially love the challenge of a dog that is new to grooming, I believe dogs love and appreciate our kindness. I love my job and end everyday feeling accomplished. When I am not grooming I love to spend time with my family, my husband and I have one son. I have two Shih Tzu's named Hattie and Dorothy and a Persian cat named Bob.

ASK ME ANYTHING

HOW LONG SHOULD I EXPECT MY DOG'S GROOMING VISIT TO BE??

Expect 3-4 hours. In order for your pet to have the most positive grooming experience we take our time bathing, drying, brushing and grooming each one.

CAN MY PET BE GROOMED STRAIGHT THROUGH?

Yes, we can accommodate straight through appointments though they need to be scheduled carefully and would need to be scheduled personally by a groomer. Convenience fees may apply up to $40.
*We reserve the right to change these policies without notice at anytime.

WHAT RECORDS ARE REQUIRED FOR MY PET?

A current rabies vaccination is required for every pet. We highly recommend both the distemper/parvo and bordetella vaccinations as well but are not required. If you do not have these records readily available we can call your Veterinarian to get expiration dates as well.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE MY PET FOR THEIR GROOMING VISIT?

Take your pet to go potty before arriving for their appointment. There is a grassy area here at the store available if you're in a hurry we just ask that you keep your pet leashed as Louise Ave is a very busy street. If you do not have a leash with you there are some available for use in our lobby, just ask and we'll get you one.

SHOULD I BRING MY PET IN A CARRIER OR ON A LEASH?

Yes, please, for the safety of your pet we ask that you keep your pet leashed or contained within a pet carrier during your visit to Dirty Dog Spa. If you do not have a leash with you there are some available for use in our lobby, just ask and we'll get you one.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN A BATH/GROOMING?

A bath includes nail trim, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, and bath.
A full groom includes nail trim, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, bath, and haircut.

I DON'T WANT NAILS CUT OR EARS CLEANED. DOES IT COST LESS WITHOUT THOSE SERVICES?

Pricing is not itemized so there is no price break for refusing individual aspects of the grooming.

ARE YOUR GROOMERS CERTIFIED/LICENSED?

While there is currently no legal state certification or licensing for groomers in South Dakotall of our groomers have attended a credible grooming school and/or completed a grooming apprenticeship, as well as continued education. They are all enthusiastic about their jobs, gentle and patient with their canine clients and strive to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality.

I JUST WANT A TRIM. WILL THE GROOMERS SHAVE MY DOG?

Not if the dog isn’t matted. The groomers always do their best to leave the coat as long as the owner wants it, but only a certain amount of de-matting can be done before it becomes too painful for the dog. The groomers will NOT put the look of the groom before the safety and comfort of the dog. If the coat is deemed too matted to be saved, the groomers will do their best to obtain permission from the owner before proceeding with a shave down either in person at drop-off or via phone call if the matting is discovered once grooming has commenced.
*We reserve the right to change these policies at anytime.

MY PET HAS FLEAS CAN YOU TREAT THEM FOR ME?

We ask that if you are aware that your pet has fleas you treat your pet with some type of preventative from your vet at least 48 hours BEFORE you bring your pet to us.

If we find fleas on your pet once they have already arrived at the appointment we will immediately bathe your pet in a citrus shampoo that will kill any live fleas and we will treat our facility immediately as well; you will be notified that we found fleas on your pet and we will discuss how to follow up with treatment. Due to the added cost of these extra measures you will be charged a mandatory fee of $25.

Please do be aware that our flea bath will not fully treat your pet for a flea infestation, and you will have to contact your vet for some type of treatment/preventative. We also suggest you treat your house and car. We have all-natural sprays in our retail area available for purchase.

*We reserve the right to change these policies with out notice.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT TO A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT?

Please have the courtesy to call and cancel or reschedule. We send reminders the morning before scheduled appointments so we do ask for 24 hours notice if you cannot make your scheduled appointment. Not showing up for a scheduled appointment with no notice is considered a "no show."

Due to the high demand of our services if you are more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled appointment, we will try calling the main phone number listed in your account, if we are unable to reach you, the appointment will need to be rescheduled. If you do not contact us by the end of that business day the appointment will be marked as a “no-show.”

An active “no-show” on your account will result in a fee of $55 for the missed appointment to book your pet(s) with Dirty Dog Spa in the future.

As groomers we plan our day very specifically to the needs of the pets in our care each day. When a client does not show for their scheduled appointment it creates a gap in our day where we could book other clients who are waiting for an appointment.

*We reserve the right to change these policies without notice at anytime.

Is there still a question that you’d like answered? Please don’t hesitate to contact us.
